Van Alstyne Fun

We had a fun time in downtown Van Alstyne this past Saturday morning.
We ate watermelon, we watched a gun slinging & saloon shooting show, rode a stagecoach, and just had an overall fun.  We also thanked several Vietnam Vets for their service & how humble they were when thanked.  Thank you again to our men & women for their service, for those currently serving, and for those that have died for our country.  THANK YOU!!!

That night we went back to watch their firework show & it was GREAT!  Zachary was a little scared at first at the actual "boom" sound, but then when he realized that he was safe; he starting saying, " BOOM, BOOM!"  He loved it!!  Sadie didn't cry, but just sat there in her daddy's arms and watched the fireworks too.

Overall, what a great day!!!

Caleb, Caitlyn, Zachary & I all rode the stagecoach - it was very cool b/c it was a Butterfield/Overland Stagecoach.  Go over to my mom's blog & she can tell you the story from when she was a little girl - MOM'S BLOG

Here is Miss Sadie sporting her 4th of July clothes & bow.  Her bow says," Proud to be an American"  Her onesie says, " Mommy's Lil Firecracker"  She is a whopping 4 months old TODAY!!!

Here is my mom giving some ppl our e-mail addresses to actually send us all these pictures.  Thank you, Elton & Bonnie!!!!  We forgot the camera in the car....OOPS!

Here is the driver of the stagecoach in position!

Love this shot with the horses in the front pulling the coach.  Fun day was had by all!!!

Sounds of Summer

Nope, not talking about a band playing, but the sounds of all the bugs!  I would have to say that is one of my fave things about summer.  As I sit here typing, I can hear the cicadas outside our living room windows.  Another one of my fave things are the frogs that really get to going at dusk.  I loved having our pond at our other house b/c you could always hear the frogs & here, well, I don't have that piece of me.  We do have a neighborhood lake and they do have frogs, so anytime I want to hear the frogs; then I can go down there and sit, wait, and listen to them.

It's interesting to me how cicadas know when it's summer b/c they get going with their noises around the 1st day of summer - amazing how/why God created that.  I would assume for when there wasn't a calendar & it would tell them that it was about to get HOT & no rain!  :)

Our noisy cicadas!

Our slimy bullfrogs!
