Agility pictures

Hey Everyone, Here is a website that has some beautiful Aussies in action or with their ribbons. www.rainydayaussies.com I am so impressed and hope that Kodiak and I can get there eventually.

I am having problems posting a picture of her, but I will work and see if I can get the picture posted on here. Kodiak is now 20 1/2 months old. I can't believe how fast the time has gone and how much I love her.

Daily Devotion

This was my devotion for today - I really enjoyed it and thought that I would share it with everyone else too. I tend to try and control things in my life; which I shared just yesterday with my small group at church. Amazing how God speaks to us!
Have a great week - Kimberly

"Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel."
Philippians 1:12

Some things are facts of life. Tires blow out and computers crash. Teeth decay and inflation skyrockets. Ants invade picnics and people get promoted ahead of us. Some things can't be avoided.

Few of us have actual control over these facts of life. But before you totally absolve yourself from any responsibility, there's one more fact to consider: You are responsible for the way you respond to these everyday, unavoidable inconveniences. You can either give up in dismay, or you can look to your sovereign Lord, who has everything under control.

The apostle Paul assumed responsibility for his attitude toward trials. When he wrote Philippians 1:12, he knew that his response played a part in advancing the gospel - that's why he took seriously his attitude when he stumbled upon unavoidable problems - because much more was at stake. Other lives could be influenced. God was taking notice.

You may not be in prison as was Paul. However, today you may find yourself in a set of circumstances over which you have no control. The weather has ruined your outdoor plans. The traffic forces you to be late for work. The electricity went out this morning in your home. You may not be able to claim responsibility for the situation, but you can be accountable for a godly response. Just remember what's at stake.

~~~~~~~~~
Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I have an opportunity today to advance Your Gospel by my patient response to problems. I pray that as others look on - whether my family, neighbors, or co-workers - they will see that You give me power and strength to smile through the circumstances. I know that others will be influenced by my attitude. And because You are watching, help me to honor You today in all that I do. Amen.
Kodiak cont.
Kodiak and I had our agility training class last night and it went GREAT! She has an assessment on November 8th. She will be testing out of this class and into the next class. I am so excited because she LOVES the agility training. It is so neat and ful-filling to see her do what I tell her on command and keep her eyes on me to know what to do next. I can only imagine what it's like with kids. Gosh my dog makes me happy - I'm sure my kids will make me happy too - well, when I finally have them. :) Remember - I gotta get married 1st!!! :) :) :) hahahahahahaha
Anyways, I am just so proud of my Kodiak. I can't wait to see how she's doing in a year from now. I am looking forward to competing someday with her - she's gonna LOVE it and me too.
That's all for now!!
4 wheeling and coyote chasing, plus 1 extra tidbit
Okay, so Sunday Les killed 2 snakes. 1 of them was a copperhead and the other snake - I don't know what it was - just know the 2nd snake wasn't poisonous.
Something that Les and I did last week, but I didn't have time to write about was coyote chasing on the 4 wheeler. It was so much fun. We went out on the cornfields by him with the spotlight. He was driving and I was holding the spotlight. Kodiak is running with us too. So, we're shining and we catch a pair of eyes. So, we start going towards the eyes and it looks little to me. I asked Les if it was a rabbit and he didn't know. We get closer and it stands up and it's a coyote!!!! So, Les takes off and I'm holding on to him with 1 hand and holding the spotlight on the coyote with the other hand. It was definitely an adventure and FUN!!!! If you ever get a chance to do something like - I say DO IT!!! It is a rush. We don't catch the coyote, but we still ride around with Kodiak still running. After a while Les starts to feel sorry for her and decides to see if we can get her to ride on the 4 wheeler with us. We get her up there and sat down. Then I'm talking to her and holding her on b/c she is a little scared at 1st, but that quickly fades and she LOVES riding on the 4 wheeler. Talk about a site that night. hahaha
Les driving, then Kodiak, and I'm facing the back with my legs handing off the back of the 4 wheeler. It was fun!!!
Kodiak
I wanted to post an update on my girl, Kodiak. Her and I have been in agility training at DAWG (Dallas Agility Working Group). She is learning so much and having a BLAST!!! She absolutely LOVES the training and is doing really good. It's creating a closer bond between her and I. She is learning to give me her complete attention; which is very important in this sport. She has learned to go through a tunnel (even when she can't see the other side), jump through a ring, get up on a table and stay until I give her the command to get off of it, etc. We go every Tuesday night at 7 PM and we both have a ball. I look forward to it and when she sees the place - she starts barking and pacing in the back of my explorer. I can tell she is so excited and can't wait to get out and start! :) That just thrills me so much that she likes it. I can't wait to see how far we get!!!! Les went with us last week and I think he enjoyed watching her and the other dogs too. It is neat to see her do what I tell her to and when I tell her to do it. It's amazing! Maybe I can raise dogs for a living?! I would love that!!!! I LOVE animals and would really like a horse eventually, but I don't know if that will ever happen, but at least I can dream about it, right?!?!
You can google DAWG or agility and see what we are doing. Anyways, just letting everyone know what's going on in my world. I am going to post later today about our adventure last night in chasing a coyote!!! Till the next post...............................
Yeah, I got some more pictures on here - that makes me very happy!! ENJOY. :)
Sunset in the city of Caberete.
Here are some various beach scenes, plus me with the local policia! I love having my picture with Police. They are ALWAYS so great about it. These particular officers had me sit down on their motorcycle and put their hat on me. How fun!?!?
I hope you enjoy the pictures - I have more if anyone is interested in others.
DR pictures!!
Well, I finally have had a chance to post pictures from my last business trip to the Dom. Rep. It is a beautiful country. I hope you all enjoy these pictures - I have more; just ask me if you would like to see more.
This is a prayer confessional.
This is me - I tripped in a hole trying to get in spot for this picture - hahahaha I was using the timer on my camera. :) Good times!
This is Susan, Kimberly, Tania, Donna, Carolina and Leanne getting ready to go up the 27 waterfalls - check out the website at www.27charcos.com. It is beautiful and I am so glad that I did it - even though I was really scared 1x.
A Catholic Chapel - the stained-glass windows were soo pretty. This picture didn't even do them justice.
Daily Devotion
I get a daily devotion sent to my e-mail everyday. I really enjoy reading them - at least most of the time. Sometimes they really challenge me and those challenges can be difficult too. This was today's and I really liked it and thought it applied to all of us. Have a great week!!
"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect."
2 Samuel 22:33
The annoying alarm clock blares in your ear, and you groggily reach over to fumble with the snooze button. Just a few more minutes, you think, and then I can get up and face the day. The alarm sounds again. You know you can't put it off any longer. It's time to face the inevitable. It's time to wrestle another day to the ground. But first, seek inspiration from this prayer written by Jacob Boehme, a German shoemaker who lived more than four hundred years ago:
Rule over me this day, O God, leading me on the path of righteousness. Put Your Word in my mind and Your truth in my heart, that this day I neither think nor feel anything except what is good and honest. Protect me from all lies and falsehood, helping me to discern deception wherever I meet it. Let my eyes always look straight ahead on the road You wish me to tread, that I might not be tempted by any distraction. And make my eyes pure, that no false desires may be awakened within me.
Approaching life prayerfully can help you have the following:
a day without distractions, focused only on the important
a day viewed through pure eyes
a day marked by goodness and honesty
a day of clear direction and no deception
a day without falsehood and lies
a day in which God's Word rules your mind and His truth reigns in your heart
~~~~~~~~
No one is stronger than the one who depends on God.

Dogs Days are Over or are they for us Texans?!?!

Dog Days End (at least that's what they say)
The phrase “Dog Days” refers to the hottest days of summer. The Old Farmer’s Almanac lists the traditional timing of the Dog Days: the 40 days beginning July 3 and ending August 11, coinciding with the heliacal (at sunrise) rising of the Dog Star, Sirius. The rising of Sirius does not actually affect the weather (some of our hottest and most humid days occur after August 11), but for the ancient Egyptians, Sirius appeared just before the season of the Nile’s flooding, so they used the star as a “watchdog” for that event. Since its rising also coincided with a time of extreme heat, the connection with hot, sultry weather was made for all time.

Muttin' Bustin'

My nephew just left from being here for 1 month. While he was here we did a TON of things!

We went out to a rodeo in Honey Grove, TX and he got to ride a sheep - it was so funny. He held on as tight as he could and he stayed on for 3. 69 seconds. Let me tell you - his sheep ran out of that pin so fast. I couldn't help but laugh!

Caleb really had a good time doing that and wanted to do it again!!! My little nephew is 5 yrs. old and pretty darn brave for getting on that sheep.

If you ever get a chance to watch a muttin bustin event - GO!

creek ride

Well, Sunday evening Les and I went down a creek in the john (sp?) boat. It was him, me and my dog Kodiak. We had a good time and Kodiak had a good time swimming. We got into a quick current a few times and Kodiak would be swimming and start crying b/c she thought we were leaving her. She had fun though! Good times...... :)

We only had 1x when we almost sunk the boat.......hahaha We were in a log jam and had it over, but then water from the current starting coming over the back of the boat and we were in it - so that didn't help. We got out and made Kodiak swim while we tried to get the boat out of the water and get the water out - water is HEAVY!!!

All in all - we all made it out safely and ended with smiles on our faces. ;)

Tractor Pull

The tractor pull was a lot of fun! It was noisy at times, but overall it was cool. Les, me, Brian T., Brian H., and Jason W. went to the event.

I had to ask some questions to the guys b-4 I understand what was going on completely, but now I understand! :)

I'll write more about what is going on soon - fun times and BUSY times!!!!!!!!

How to Diagnose a Stroke

This is very important and could save someone's life.

February 01, 2006 My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously.. Please read: STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit! shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK . to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (! i.e. . . It is sunny out today) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. {NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke} If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Very Sweet

I think this is one of the sweetest things that I have ever seen.

I wish I could see a heart shaped by the sun like this on the water. It is very romantic and what a way to watch the sun go down with someone special.

Just thought I would pass this picture on. Have a good day! @----->----

Look If You Dare

This is for those Senior Citizens out there:

SENIOR DRESS CODE

Many of us "Old Folks" (those over 50, WAY over 50, or hovering near 50) are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We are unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to Conform to current fashions. Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together And should be avoided:
1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedos and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. Inline skates and a walker

And last, but not least...
13. Thongs and Depends

Pictures

Here is a little island that is out on Lake Winnebago - there is a sign posted on it that says 'No Hunting'

I asked about that and our host told me that people would go out there and shoot ducks/birds and the dead birds would land in people's backyards and they didn't like it - understandable!

HEY!

Hello - well, it's been about 2 weeks since I last posted anything.

I was in Wisconsin this past weekend and I enjoyed the beautiful lakes up there. I got the chance (from the plane) to see Lake Winnebago and Lake Michigan. The woman that I stayed with lived on Lake Winnebago and it was just so pretty. The majority of the lake was still frozen; which was pretty darn cool. I hadn't seen that b-4, so, it was quite interesting for me. When you looked out across the water, you could see the water frozen out on the horizon.

I am going to try and post some pictures on here now. So, we'll see what comes out. :)

Jump-Roping

I wanted to post some good news. I started jump roping about 2 weeks ago or so. When I 1st started jumping - it was really hard to keep my breath. I can tell my stamina is going up b/c I didn't get out of breath as quick tonight. I made about 5 min of cont. jumping. Gosh - that's hard though! I remember when I was a kid and it was nothing to jump rope - of course, I used to be able to do a 5 min kick routine too.

I have enjoyed my jump roping - my jump rope is purple too - my fav color!! :)

Well, this is a short post; just wanted ya'll to know this.

Have a great week!!!!

Thought Provoking!?!?

Cindy Sheehan asked President Bush, "Why did my son have to die in Iraq?"

Another mother asked President Kennedy, "Why did my son have to die in Viet Nam?"

Another mother asked President Truman, "Why did my son have to die in Korea?"

Another mother asked President F.D. Roosevelt, "Why did my son have to die at Iwo Jima?"

Another mother asked President W. Wilson, "Why did my son have to die on the battlefield of France?"

Yet another mother asked President Lincoln, "Why did my son have to die at Gettysburg?"

And yet another mother asked President G. Washington, "Why did my son have to die near Valley Forge?"

Then, long, long ago, a mother asked, "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem?"

The answers to all these are similar -- "that others may have life and dwell in peace, happiness and freedom."

For Nicole

Okay all my faithful blog readers......you know who you are. ;)

So I get an e-mail from Nicole this morning to update my blog, so, here is an update on what I did last night.

Today is my cuz' b'day and last night we had a surprise b'day party for him - thanks for all who came out. We had a good time hanging out and eating some good ole catfish. Danny was very surprised and had no idea!!!!

Afterwards, we went to Les' house (me, Les, Dan and Jason W.). We played some pool and the guys sang "classic country" tunes. Quite amusing to say the least. I would have sang along, but I didn't know any of the songs, well a few.

Let's see the newest thing in my life right now is that I might move in with a friend of mine - Nicole. We're looking at apartments right now and trying to decide where to move. We're thinking about Parkview Legends in McKinney. We have some friends that live in that complex and they like it there, so, maybe we'll move in there. We did get $650 off right up front - you rock Nicole!!

Also, there is a possibility of freezing rain this weekend - how exciting! I am off on Mon. for Presidents Day and I am psyched about that. YEAH!

Well, I am going to go back to work now, but I'll write something else eventually!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace

1/2 way there

Well, we are over 1/2 way to the big "LOVE" holiday - a.k.a. Valentine's.

Last year I was single and I hung out with da girls. We went and saw "Hitch" with Will Smith and ate supper together. We had a good time.

This year - I have a Valentine :). I am not sure what we'll be doing - I offered to cook, so, we'll see what actually comes about. I am looking forward to the 14th no matter what we end up doing.

I came across this word search online and thought I would help everyone get in the spirit of Valentine's. You can play it as many times as you want and they will keep scrambling the letters - that way it is different each time you play it. :) I love word search puzzles, so, this was right up my alley. ENJOY!

Coyote Chasing

Okay, so this was so much fun!!! I had never been coyote spot-lighting, so, we went Saturday night! What a blast!

This is what you do, you go out to the country roads where there are fields. You have a spotlight and you scan it across the fields until you see a pair of eyes glow. After that, the race is on!

Our adventure:
We found a coyote to chase and we were driving between 30-35 mph and making 90 degree turns. How we didn't turn over is a wonder to me. It was such an adrenaline rush, it was awesome! We chased him for a few minutes, but then he went into the weeds and we didn't venture into those. So, that is how it happened.

If you get a chance to go - GO!!! Have fun and don't be scared, it's all good. Well, as long as you trust the driver; which I do. :)

We also went down into a dried up ole creek bed and drove it. We tried to go up one steep hill, but didn't make it. I just love these adventures - stuff I never did growing up. Of course, those who know me know that I am easily amused - SUPRISED?? (I think NOT)

Anyways, TGIF - have a great weekend!

This is CrAzY!!

Okay, so, I did this 2x and it really worked. I don't know how, but it did. Just follow the link below - let me know what you think!

The Tornados took the Road Runners into overtime and won 3-2.

Sunny Days

Today has been a gorgeous day! I am so happy, but the only thing is, I have been indoors all day. Darn it. Oh well, that's life.

I sit by a HUGE window at work, so, I at least get to look out and see the sun, sky, planes flying over, etc.

I can't wait for this weekend to get here, it's supposed to be just beautiful. YEAH - I am off!!!!

Today has gone by pretty quick, but now it is slow. There is only 40 min. or so left of today's work day.

Let's see, I went to the Sprint to get a new phone activated to my phone number. As of a little while ago, it still hasn't completely switched over. I just keep waiting patiently. I love the new phone - thanks to Chris! You're the best man. It is this cute and really slim phone. Very light and silver - my favorite! I have the background set with palm trees and it lights up Orange when being used.

My brother flew in today, so, I can't wait to see him. He will be here for a week. Next Thurs. we are going to go to the Stars game - should be a lot of fun!!!! I am really excited about that.

Well, I am going to get off of here, just thought I would post something.

peace out!

Long Time Friends

This is a really good friend of mine, her name is Kristy. We have been friends for about 12 years or so. She is someone that I can trust to talk to about anything. We have been through thick and thin times - but it never fails, we always stay friends. I am so thankful for her friendship and what she means to me. :)
We both went to DBU together and actually lived in separate dorms and basically had different friends - would you agree with that Kristy?? Kristy majored in education while I was in psychology. We never had a class together the whole time we were there, but we did have chapel together.

Anyways, I just wanted to post a picture of my good friend Kristy!!! I love you girl - so glad that God brought us together that Sunday after church. I wonder if we would have been friends had you and my brother not dated?? What do you think???

Well, we need to get the dogs together this week 1 day - they need to RUN! Call me when you get a chance and we'll make a date. ;)

Love ya chica!!!

Reflection on 2005

Hello to anyone who is reading this. I have now been blogging for 10 months, going on the 11th month. My friend Bonnie got me introduced to blogging last February one day when we were bored at work. So, here we are.

Okay, I told ya'll that I would tell what my life has been in 2005. I have gone from being confused to where God was leading me to following where He was leading me. Let me take you back to when I started graduate school in January 2004. I went to UTSA for 1 semester and I couldn't get the thoughts out of my head that I wasn't where God wanted me. So, after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, I moved back to Dallas to take care of her. I transferred schools and the whole year that I was there, I didn't have a peace about my masters. Okay, that brings me up to January 2005. I was in my 3rd semester of school and not feeling as though I was supposed to be there. I completed the Spring semester and May 2, 2005 - I moved to McKinney, TX. I started going back to my home church and immediately found a place to fit in. I rekindled old friendships and made new friends. I had a great summer of activities and found a great job. I am working as a project coordinator for medical mission trips. I absolutely love it and enjoy almost every day. Not every job is perfect, but I like it there a lot. God placed this job into my lap - literally. It's a long story, so I am not going to type it out, but just know that God's hands were completely around me finding my job.
The activities that I have done this year are: Mesquite Rodeo, Amateur car races, Nascar Races, Bonham Rodeo, Wylie Rodeo, hiking mountains in 2 different locations in OK, fished, hunted, you get the idea. A wide range of activies and I have enjoyed every single bit of it.
Let's see, I started my dog in obedience training last January and she did an awesome job! She has calmed down quite a bit and one thing that I had to break was her jumping on people. Thank goodness, that is gone for the most part. Now she just jumps and tries to kiss you, but doesn't jump on you. Pretty amazing dog - she'll be 2 yrs. old on Valentine's Day. In fact, as I sit here typing, she is asleep on the floor all stretched out - too funny.
I was commissioned into Stephen Ministry back in November at my church. I was very excited about that. I am also a volunteer at the SPCA here in McKinney. Kodiak is a little jealous when I get home b/c I smell like other dogs, but she'll be fine. :)
Okay, my next blog is going to be on my New Year's Resolutions - I don't have many, but they are important to me.
